Our Project List
Waterford Civic Trust has a number of current and proposed projects which you can read about here. Each project is designed to protect or enhance our treasure of heritage, and relies on the support of our members, volunteers, similarly driven groups, Waterford City & County Council and other State bodies.
Leper Hospital Project
The Leper Hospital project - Stage One will clear the site of invasive vegetation and rubbish with the help of volunteers and local funding. The site may date from the 13th century.
The Graveyard Project will focus on ancient graveyards and will collect available research data, clean up the sites and work with local communities to ensure their protection and upkeep.
St Johns Priory
This project is a Local Training Initiative funded by Solas and managed by WCT. It trains people in traditional heritage stonework under the guidance of a Master Stonemason. Fantastic work done so far and more is planned.
Black Friars - Raise The Roof
Blackfriars is a major project, proposed by WCT, with the aim of replacing the roof on Blackfriars Church in Conduit Lane. This site will require significant funding, and will enhance Waterford's heritage greatly.
The Beach Tower
The Beach Tower Restoration Project was a great success and has been completed. Further work is required to ensure that the Tower is maintained and this work was undertaken by the St John's Priory Local Training Initiative team, under the guidance of Master Stonemason Tony Jones.
